The VOICE Student to Student Mentoring Program is designed to help school officials enhance school community and provides Students with a stronger foundation where they will experience support and success through meaningful relationships with older students.

The comprehensive VOICE Mentoring System sets up your school to easily implement and sustain an on-going program where positive older students have a strong VOICE to influence younger students. Through monthly Classroom Connections and personal Informal Connections, mentors impact younger students and promote healthy decision making and character development.

With VOICE your school will guarantee that younger students receive encouraging guidance from caring and supportive upperclassmen role models. As the years go by, your school will be transformed from the inside out, teachers will have more time to teach, students’ behavior improves, and students will be more motivated to perform academically.

Research supports that attendance and academic performance increases when students see their school as a community (read more about this research here.) In addition, students have been reported to engage in less disruptive behavior, enjoy school more, and use fewer drugs when they have a strong sense of connectedness at school. As students experience connection, they become more motivated and less stressed.

With IDFY’s VOICE Student to Student Mentoring, schools will receive:

-Professional on-site Mentor Training
-Classroom Connection Curriculum
-Time-saving Letters and Applications
-On-going support to begin and sustain a dynamic program

“The implementation of the VOICE program has been an essential key in developing a positive atmosphere at Timberlake High School. The older students gain as much, if not more, from the program as those they mentor. The process of bringing new 9th grade students into the fold through their mentors, helps them feel immediately accepted with the rest of the student body. In turn, these students enjoy being connected to Timberlake and have a greater desire to come to school and be productive members of the THS community. The i2i program was a great way to initiate student to student connections and facilitated a quicker transition for our 9th grade students. I highly recommend the VOICE and i2i programs for any school looking to help students feel connected to their school through deliberate interaction with positive peers in upper grade levels.” -J. James, Timberlake High School
