Have You Seen Jane?

Jane, the non-smoking “Smokesperson”, has been very busy, visiting communities in North Idaho to distribute tobacco prevention facts to students in local schools.

Region 1 Tobacco Coalition members are sponsoring this event and encourage youth to Look For Jane in your school!

Cost of Smoking

A pack-a-day smoker spends approximately $1,642.50 on cigarettes per year! (average cost $4.50/pack)

Idaho Statistics
• Big tobacco companies spend $50.6 million every year marketing to Idaho.
• 188,900 adults in Idaho smoke (19%).
• 12,200 high school students in Idaho smoke (14%).
• 61,000 children in Idaho are exposed to second-hand smoke at home.
• 1,500 die each year from their own smoke.
• 30,100 children alive today eventually will die from tobacco smoke.
• Smoking kills more people in Idaho than alcohol, AIDS, car crashes, illegal drugs, murders and suicides combined.
