The DRUG FREE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY is a collaborative effort by Idaho prevention organizations to develop and mobilize Idaho’s most committed drug free teens to take action in their schools and communities. The academy will provide drug education, media training, and an opportunity to develop action plans. Youth participants will be inspired to become their communities’ most vocal activists for positive peer influence and drug-free choices.

What is it?
The Drug Free Leadership Academy is made up of three-phases.

Phase 1: Advocacy Training
Students will take part in a weekend retreat, receiving training on youth advocacy, working with the media, public policy, drug trends, marijuana, underage drinking, prescription drugs, and tobacco education.

Phase 2: Project Development
Students will develop a media-driven advocacy project to be implemented in their communities during the Spring of 2012.

Phase 3: Implementation
Graduation from the Drug Free Leadership Academy will require successful implementation of advocacy projects and will include public recognition from state leaders.

Who Can Apply?
